NICOLETTA M. RANIERI

Biography


Nicoletta Ranieri provides strategic, personalized legal counsel aligned with each client's business objectives. With experience spanning both the Canadian and U.S. markets, she brings a practical, commercially minded approach to her practice and is deeply committed to achieving meaningful outcomes for her clients.


Prior to founding Ranieri Law, Nicoletta gained valuable experience as in-house counsel to a luxury goods and jewelry company and as an associate at a boutique intellectual property and business law firm in New York City. Earlier in her career, she worked with law firms and companies across the entertainment, media, and fashion industries, including Coach. These experiences have shaped her business-oriented perspective and her ability to advise clients with a nuanced understanding of both legal risk and commercial realities. 

Nicoletta is actively engaged in diversity and inclusion initiatives, with a particular focus on advancing women, gender equality, racial equity, and support for underserved communities. She is also a dedicated advocate against bullying. Nicoletta serves on boards and committees related to intellectual property, the proliferation of education and learning, and cancer research and awareness.

Best Business Practices

A core focus of Nicoletta's practice is guiding businesses on best practices to support sustainable growth while proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks. She advises start-ups from incorporation through scale, and works closely with established companies on governance, internal policies, risk management, and expansion strategies. 

Talent Negotiations & Deals

Nicoletta has advised artists and creatives at every stage of the creative process, from development through commercialization and exploitation. Her experience includes negotiating and drafting a broad range of agreements, including talent, licensing, consulting, production, recording, work-for-hire, non-disclosure, and release agreements. 

 

Global Brand Enforcement

Nicoletta regularly works with foreign counsel on global brand protection, enforcement, and expansion initiatives. She has extensive experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, including searches and clearances, advising on registrability and availability, filing and prosecuting trademark applications, responding to Office Actions, managing renewals, and supporting anti-counterfeiting strategies.

ROLAND BATTISTINI

Biography

Roland Battistini provides results-driven legal counsel focused on the protection, registration, and enforcement of trademarks and intellectual property. With over twenty-five years of experience helping both Canadian and international clients, he works with businesses to safeguard what are often their most valuable assets– their trademarks.


Roland’s experience has spanned the full range of trademark practice. He has helped clients determine the availability of trademarks for use and registration, prepared and filed applications, responded to government reports and notices, and guided applications through to registration. He has represented clients in opposition proceedings, in Section 45 proceedings, and in litigation before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Federal Court of Appeal.


Roland has helped both start-ups and large corporations with trademark registrability, strategy, and portfolio management. He has advised clients on legal risk and helped them acquire long-term brand security. Roland has helped draft and negotiate intellectual property agreements. He has protected clients receiving cease and desist notices, and he has helped clients enforce their own trademark rights.


Beyond his primary legal practice, Roland’s wide range of experience gives him a unique understanding of his clients and their goals, helping him align legal strategies with commercial objectives. Roland has managed business and legal affairs for a marketing and AI company. As a certified business coach, he has mentored and advised lawyers and business owners. He has volunteered with charity and non-profit organizations involved in education, music, culture, supporting seniors, and helping underserved communities. He has had the privilege of serving as chief strategist and campaign manager in a federal Canadian election. As a member of SOCAN, Roland’s music has been used in the programming of major television networks, and he has advised artists on the protection of their intellectual property.
